Welcome to the first post on yThunk!

Why Generation "Y"? (Wiki Entry)

Generation "y" is my generation. The generation of teens, college students, and the "new" work force, the next generation responsible for taking the reigns of our economy and steering us into the future. We are the scientists, enterpenuers, lawyers, politicians, movie stars, and doctors of the future. We will decide the direction that our country will head and whether or not we will prosper. And we NEED to be the generation that brings innovation to the problems our world is facing, both big and small. From alternative energy to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, to new communications technologies that further globalization, we will be the deciding factor in determining whether or not 10 billion people can peacefully coexist in the next 50 years.

A Little About Me:

My name is Will Coffin. I am a full-time student studying Industrial Engineering at the University of Miami with a passion for electronics and productivity. I have been heavily involved with consumer and professional electronics for over a decade and I am experienced in most every genre. I own and operate an entertainment company and have been involved with event management and professional sound for 8 years. I am also the President of the 'Canes Emergency Response Team, the student led and comprised emergency response team at UM (www.UMCERT.com). Technology is my obsession and product design in my outlet, I constantly work to make things simple and easy to use while mainting effectivness. Such is the goal of any company to make their products cheaper, faster, and more competitive, but so many do so at the cost of the end product. I believe that there is always a solution that "just works", like the iPod or the gameboy, simplicity breeds stability. There is a way to make products sexy, feature rich, and user friendly and it is my goal to do what I can to help get us there.

We will be temporarily hosting the blog on Blogger until the website is up and running sometime in Q1 of 2009. Until then this is where you will find my posts about what I find interesting in the world. I am obsessed with everything that makes us more productive, happy people with an emphasis on making life easier. I will cover a broad area of subject matter, from technology to health care and everything in between including topics such as; smart phones, software, computers, workout routines, health, tools, DIY projects, cars, music, boats, psychology, school, product reviews, audio, home automation, gaming, parties, sports, and much more.

Post may start slow but don't worry, this will gain momentum quickly.

Check back often to see what I dig up!
